About Us

Our journey began long ago when my husband and I were both children, although we didn't know we were on the same path at the time.  Both my husband and I grew up as the fortunate children of professional educators.  There may have been studies back in the 60s that extolled the virtues of reading aloud with your kids, but I doubt that our mothers needed a study to inherently know the benefit of such a great activity.  Our mothers read with us consistently and, yes, we both loved school and the process of learning.  Coincidence?

Even though neither one of us chose the honored profession of education, that hasn't prevented us from our own unique discovery journey.  My husband and I found out the wonderful news that we were expecting triplets in the 11th year of our marriage.  We had to prepare for them early as I was forced to quit my job and be confined to the house (well actually a square route within the house between the bed, the bathroom, the couch, and the kitchen) for the duration of the pregnancy at 20 weeks.  I had plenty of time to think about the important principles that we wanted to live by in raising our children, and reading with them was extremely high on the list.  Reading aloud was so high in fact that I decided not to waste any time.  I read to them every day before they were born!  We were so fortunate that the triplets were delivered at 37 weeks - an amazingly long time for triplets.  They were born extremely healthy.

The kids never had a chance - we read to them all the time, especially when we could get them all to be quiet yet alert at the same time.  We will never forget the Saturday that we first put them in their 3 exersaucers and read The World God Made which has such wonderful vibrant colors.  The image of three heads turning in unison to see the picture with their eyes full of wonder is burned into my memory.  Truly, that first year was exhausting, but times like that made it all worthwhile.

Our children are now almost ten and they continue to love to read and learn - we are fortunate.  While they aren't one-dimensional, they are just as happy to read as to do anything else and we have no doubt that their love for reading and learning will last their whole life, just as ours has.  During our experience in selecting books and movies with them we have discovered, as I'm sure you have, that it is extremely difficult during this time to channel good character messages to your children through the media that they can choose to read and watch.  I dread for my son to watch sports programs because of the scantily clad girls in the beer commercials.  Don't you dread your children asking you what "erectile dysfunction" means?  It's bound to happen - the commercials are on every 20 minutes.  Never mind that most of the "kid" oriented shows and movies give kids bad ideas instead of instill good character traits.

We decided to do something.  We want to share the successful system our parents passed down to us to instill a lifetime love of reading with our children.  While your children are reading, why not have them read material that you think is good for them?  Read about our unique system and the 17 character traits that we provide with every review.  We think you'll find our service to be a great benefit to your family.
